Overview
There has been a substantial increase in web conferences over the last few years. A good quality webcam and stable internet service have become necessities for remote and in-person office workers. External webcams generally provide higher resolution and better microphone quality than the integrated cameras and microphones on most laptops. Some webcams also offer additional options such as the ability to pan and zoom. The selections below have plug and play technology and are easy to install. Users whose priority is video conferencing should consider overall quality, and ability to purchase through UCLA's contracted suppliers. Department IT groups should be consulted for further technical advice and compatibility with individual devices.
